Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you begin.

Learn how immigration psychological evaluations work, what to expect, and how attorneys and clients can prepare.

What is an immigration psychological evaluation?+

It is a clinical assessment completed by a licensed mental health professional. It typically includes a detailed interview, review of relevant records, clinical measures when appropriate, and a written report addressing psychological factors relevant to the immigration matter.

Is this the same as therapy?+

No. An evaluation is time-limited and focused on assessment and documentation. It does not create an ongoing therapist-client relationship, although treatment recommendations may be included when clinically appropriate.

Are appointments available by telehealth?+

Yes. Evaluations are offered virtually to individuals who are physically located in Florida at the time of the appointment.

How long does an evaluation take?+

The evaluation typically takes 2–3 telehealth visits. The exact number and length of visits may vary based on the case history, symptoms, interpretation needs, and records available.

How long does the report take?+

The typical report turnaround is 10–15 business days after the final interview and receipt of all required documents. Expedited turnaround may be available for an additional fee and must be confirmed with the practice. Timing may vary depending on case complexity and current availability.

How much does an evaluation cost?+

Please call the practice at (689) 206-1122 for current pricing. Fees are discussed before scheduling.

Can my attorney contact the evaluator?+

Yes. With the client’s written authorization, the evaluator can coordinate with counsel regarding the referral question, case timeline, and relevant records.

Do you guarantee an immigration outcome?+

No. The evaluator provides an independent clinical opinion and cannot guarantee a legal result. Immigration decisions are made by the appropriate legal authorities.

Can an interpreter participate?+

Interpretation can be coordinated when needed. Please share the preferred language during the initial consultation so appropriate arrangements can be discussed.

What documents should I provide?+

Helpful records may include an attorney referral letter, personal declaration, medical or mental health records, police reports, protective orders, or other documents relevant to the clinical history. Only send records through an approved secure method.
